About
Taurus World Stunt Award winner Glenn Foster is a true example of someone living out their dream. As a boy he was inspired by a Hollywood Stuntmen book he received as a gift from his parents at the age of 9. Glenn found himself able to make this dream a reality as an adult and found himself involved on movies such as Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Casino Royale and Bourne Ultimatum. It was in 2009 that Glenn was able to realise yet another childhood dream when he play the part of ‘Mitchell’ on the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace. He recalls seeing A Spy Who Loved Me in the movie theatre again as a young boy and being wowed by the ski chase climaxing when Bond skied over the edge of a cliff and deployed his Union Jack parachute, to the cheers from the audience. In Quantum of Solace, Glenn found himself in the position as an adversary to Bond and being pursued by the man himself. He also had the opportunity to utter the word ‘Bond’ to James Bond on screen, a monumental moment for a lifelong fan of the franchise. The resultant chase found Mitchell and Bond playing at and mouse across Tuscan rooftops, crashing though skylights and swinging from the rafters in an Italian art gallery. The climax to the this sequence involved Bond overcoming adversity and shooting Mitchell. This thrilling ending was subsequently used at the Oscars to close out a 50 year Bond tribute lasting over two minutes and consisting of the some if the truly great Bond moments over the years.
When Glenn thought that his career could go no higher he found himself involved on Sherlock Holmes in late 2009, doubling a resurgent Robert Downey Jnr. It was to develop into a long lasting relationship between the two as Glenn was invited by Robert to continue working with him on his future projects and has since doubled for him in several Marvel movies including Iron Man, Avengers and Captain America, as well as Due Date and a Sherlock sequel. It was for his work on the original Sherlock that Glenn was nominated twice for the Taurus World Stunt Awards. One of the nominations was for the high dive in which Sherlock is seen exiting a window in London’s Houses of Parliament. Glenn is then seen diving into the River Thames. In reality there was no way to actually dive from the building into the river but a green screen tower was constructed alongside the Thames and Glenn dived 55 feet headfirst into the icey waters in December 2009. The dive was repeated 4 times in total.
